Calls and hangs up or message says "stay on line for a message" very odd and won't identify themselves.

This is the umpteenth telephone number the company has used. It's likely regarding a credit card debt that's at least 20 years old. Apparently they've also called my mother, since I lived with her for a while during the early 1990's. Portfolio also did some "short" reviews of my credit report last year. If they have my address, why not send me a letter? Guess it costs too much to send letters to everyone for whom they have worthless debts.

They have called several times, never leave a message, and when I do answer, the line has no on the other end and hangs up after a couple of seconds.

Claimed to be "Investigator Davis" and called my home and my parents to alert them that I was involved in a fraud case. The idiot called on a national holiday, pretending to be a government agent, so...my guess is that he is a fake. He might be a bill collector that just uses extreme tactics, who knows. But I wouldn't stress out and hire an attorney! I called him back immediately, and it went straight to a cell phone voicemail. Umm....Investigator Davis, you might want to up your game!

Officer Alex Davis called and left me a message I called back and talked to John Smith, who sounded alot like Officer Davis. He reported that my sister had taken out a pay day loan with my name on it and i was going to have to pay it back or go to jail.WTF!!!

I think i just figured out where they got my number. I have been reading through these responses and found several that relate to some of my activity. I was on fox news website and clicked on an ad for Resveratrol the anti-aging over the counter drug. I filled out a free sample form using my number but didn't proceed and have noticed this type of thing has happened with others. Just an fyi. Also, i just called my phone company to have this number blocked.

This individual called me, a federal government employee. I told him that he needed to remove me from the list and he told me I was mumbling, then mocked a mumbling sound. I asked to speak with his manager and he told me "tough luck" and hung up.
